Are the COVID-19 Dead Martyrs (Shaheed) and is Ghusl Necassary for Them?
Question: If people that are dying due to COVID-19 are martyrs, then why are we giving them Ghusal?

Asalam alaykum wr wb not all mesjids are washing them, they told me the risk is to high, if you wash them and then go home to ur family and carry the virus how is this allowed, mixing the ill with the healthy is not permitted?
The following video will insha’Allah help answer your question
https://youtu.be/mLl8hxmXiJ0
And also read government guidelines on the risk. The masjid that the Mufti recorded this video in has done over 20 ghusals to date.
Jabir ibn ‘Atik reported: The Messenger of Allah, (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said,
“There are 7 martyrs besides one who is killed in the way of Allah:
1) The victim of PLAGUE is a Martyr,
2) One who drowns is a martyr,
3) One who dies of chest pain is a martyr,
4) One who dies of stomach infection is a martyr,
5) One who burns to death is a martyr,
6) One who is crushed under something is a martyr,
7) The pregnant woman who dies giving labor is a martyr.”
[Sunan Abū Dāwūd 3111]
Ubada Bin Samit (R.A) narrates, that the Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said;
=The Shaheed is granted 7 Gifts from Allah (S.W.T)
1) He is forgiven at the first drop of his blood.
2) He sees his status in jannah.
3) He is dressed in the clothes of iman.
4) He is safe from the punishment of the grave.
5) He will be safe from the great fear of the Day of Judgement.
6)A crown of honour will be placed on his head.
7) He will intercede on behalf of 70 members of his family.
[Musnad Ahmed ,Tabrani, at-Targheeb wa at-Tarheeb, p.443, vol.2]
This is a plague!
Salaam. Could we have more lectures on understanding the Quran as the Sahabah heard it and understanding what made the Sahabah change their old ways, culture and polytheism, to become the best of mankind?
Jazakallah khair wa barakallahu feek Mufti, I think most of us brothers and sisters needed this clarification.
A few things,
Just because there is no evidence of high risk of transmission from a corpse doesn’t mean that this is the case. There is not enough research yet. What if evidence becomes available at a later date – once they done further research? And it turns out people have been infected – you may apologize, but it will be too late for those affected. So, why take the risk?
You talk about people dying in car accident etc, that is irrelevant to this discussion. A car accident victim is not infected and poses no risk to anyone.
Please stop risking well meaning peoples lives unnecessarily. Jzk
Wear gloves and a mask and wash.
Subhanallah
